Sorry still getting used to the timing here because we only have an hour on the comps and that includes writing to the president! Ill figure it out better next time ya? I couldnt really read your letters sorry but I will print them and respond next week! Cant wait!
IM IN CHILE WWOOOOO FINALLY Im serving in Los Angeles (hahaha)! Its way cold but really cool! I cant believe dad served here so cool! Send me a list of people you know here! Our area is called Villa O'Higgins and is a pretty small area, just a suburb on the north side of LA. Our ward is super strong though I love them all. Im not sure where dad served here but it was only one chapel then ya? Our district is apparently pretty wealthy but I cant really tell hahaha. Seems pretty poor to me but its nice. It hasnt rained once which is a total miracle! Im a lucky guy. It is way cold though. There isnt really central air here so everyone heats their houses with propane etc. We have some good heaters. We are really lucky in our house because we have a toaster (I guess a luxory here hahaha) and a water heater thats hooked up to the city gas line. Its a pain we have to ligth it every mornign but its so nice! Our mamita has a drier too wchic is cool. They feed us so much her omg. Lunch is everyday with members and they feed us an unholy amount. Its unreal. The first day I barely finished my soup (soup everyday pretty much but its pretty good) and was way full and that WAS THE FIRST OFTHREE COURSES! Its horrible but we do it. The members are so fun to hang out with though. We ate with the bishops motherinlaw and wife yesterday and the grandma was so funny yelling at the kids etc. Chilean spanish is like another language! I can speak pretty well but they talk super fast and quiet here with a different accent etc and its super hard to understand. Everyone keeps telling me my spanish issuper good for a newbie though which is good. People and missioaries are generally pretty surprised with how well I speak. I thought we would be teaching a lot more than we are. Apparently our sector is a little hard though because its small and people are pretty well off. We do a lot of knocking and dont get in very often. We have a decent amount of investigators here but its hard. The hardest thing ever is getting people to come to chuch. They need to come three times befroe they are baptized, and otherwise it probably wouldnt be that hard. For example we placed 5 baptismal dates last week which was really good, but only one lady came to church which was a miracle. We kind of have to drop the dates of the people who dont come which sucks but its ok. I think we have some baptisms in the future for sure. One inv is Z She is the best ever! She has been taking the lessons for a while now but hasnt been baptized because she wants to talk to her parents. The dumb thing is she is like older than 50 and her parents are in their 90s. Shes living every law and comes to church every week and is super awesome. We are just trying to help her have the courage to talk to them. My trainer is Elder P from SLC! He is so cool and obedient and hardworking, which is the most important. He only has a year in the field and im his first "child" which probably means he was killing it before me. Last transfer I think him and his comp had like 4 baptsims. He is a really good teacher and his spanish is way good. Its pretty dang cold here hahaha. Theres a lot of dogs too everywhere which is kind of annoying. I love it though! Its so cool! Everyone thinks its really cool dad served here too. I met an elder who served for a while in Lebu and he pretty much knew who I was and who dad is before I brought it up hahahaha. He says the ward is way strong and that dad pretty much baptised everyone. They have pics of him etc etc. He says he reactivated one of dads converts too which is cool. Cant wait to serve there. Im so sorry my letter is dumb this week! I just have no time! Ill do better next week and ifnecessary I can write it out and send a pic hahaha that works too. I havent gotten any packages or anything yet so I dunno but I think it will come soon. Also I dont want to assume because I know itts expensive but in case you were thinking about sending me a package for my bday i have a list of stuff. If bnot then christmas works: in soles for shoes, my birkenstoks, candy, more music (just tabernacle choir),and that is it I think Ill try to remember. Chocalate! I love you guys a ton but its awesome here. We see miracles in every lesson. I love to picture the Savior walking and teaching next to us always. I swear we can see the Gospel touching peoples hearts right in front of our eyes. Ill have a better letter next week I promise ok? I love you all though. Love for all, Trevor ps poor elder cederstrom from arizona who hates the cold got sent to the most southern district loncoche hahaha! Also my roomates are peruvian and argentinian and rock!

Elder Trevor SmithElder Trevor Smith is a Mormon missionary in the Chile Concepcion Sur mission, the same mission where his dad served. Although this is Trevor's own mission, he grew up hearing about the beautiful land of Chile and the loving people that inhabit it. These are the letters from his experience there. Archives
